Better context for service incidents
Help your team understand availability issues and decide what needs attention, with operational information connected to the services you manage in WHMCS.
Purpose
Service information is more useful when the team responsible for customers can relate an availability incident to the services it manages. This module brings monitoring context into WHMCS to support operational review and customer-support conversations.
Typical workflow
An external monitoring component reports an availability problem. Staff review which service is affected, consider the available incident context and decide what operational response is appropriate. After recovery, the recorded information can help the team discuss what happened and whether further investigation is needed.
Role in WHMCS
WHMCS provides the customer and service-management context. A separate monitoring worker or provider performs the checks, allowing monitoring to remain independent of the billing application itself.
Scope and boundaries
Monitoring reports observations; it does not guarantee uptime or automatically resolve an incident. External monitoring infrastructure and provider charges are separate from the module licence. Repair actions, infrastructure changes and any service-level commitments need an explicitly defined arrangement.
Key Features
Make service availability easier to understand, with checks, alert rules and history matched to your operational needs.
Service & Endpoint Checks — Monitor authorised HTTP/HTTPS endpoints and, where included, selected TCP ports. Set check intervals, timeouts and expected responses around the services in your scope.
External Monitoring Integration — Use a separate monitoring worker or an agreed provider so checks can continue when the billing application is unavailable. Define where results are stored and how WHMCS retrieves them.
Incident & Recovery Alerts — Configure consecutive-failure thresholds, recovery messages and alert cooldowns. Start with agreed email recipients and assess webhook or messaging integrations as needed.
Availability & Response History — Display check results, response times and incident periods over the agreed retention window. Show how measurements are collected and when data is unavailable.
Client Service Visibility — Map monitors to WHMCS services and restrict customer visibility to their own permitted resources. Keep infrastructure-wide controls available only to authorised staff.
Maintenance & Reporting — Include agreed maintenance windows, incident notes and report views. Match stored history and notification volume to the monitoring capacity and support arrangement.
Monitor inventory
List authorised targets, supported checks, service mappings and expected responses.
Monitoring engine
Choose an external worker or provider, connection permissions, probe locations and result-delivery method.
Alert policies
Agree failure/recovery thresholds, notification channels, recipients and maintenance-window behaviour.
History and capacity
Define the retention period, monitor count, check frequency and any reporting requirements.
✓ Compatible with WHMCS v9.1
Infrastructure access
A separate monitoring environment or provider account is required for reliable external checks.
Integration testing
Verify simulated outages, recovery, delayed results, account permissions and alert delivery in staging.
Operating costs
External monitoring, hosting and provider charges are separate from the module licence. Custom development is quoted separately. Monitoring reports availability; any service guarantee or automated repair workflow requires its own agreement.

Why does it need an external monitoring component?+
If the only monitor runs on the WHMCS server, it may stop when that server fails. A separate worker or provider keeps the checking function independent of the billing application.
Does WHMCS already have server-status monitoring?+
Yes. This module focuses on supported additional capabilities such as external checks, incident notifications, service-specific client views and historical reports.
Will it restart or repair servers automatically?+
The standard module monitors and notifies. Reboots, repairs and other infrastructure-changing actions are separate automation requirements to assess explicitly.
Are monitoring service costs included?+
The module licence is separate from external monitoring, hosting and provider charges. Confirm these operating costs and the supported integration before purchase.
